Comedian, author and filmmaker Stephen Fry will host the 2006BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards on Nov 2 at The Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotelin Los Angeles.

Fry, who has hosted the Orange British Academy Film Awards inLondon for the past five years, will be joined at the LA event by presenters HalleBerry, Tim Robbins, Sydney Pollack, Dustin Hoffman and Rene Russo.

'BAFTA/LA is delighted to honour such esteemed andaccomplished individuals,' Britannia Event Committee co-chairs DuncanClark and Julia Verdin said.

'We are ourselves honoured by their acceptance of ourdecidedly British tribute. With the addition of our new host, the comic genius StephenFry, who has thrilled and entertained us for so long at the Orange BaftaAwards, this evening is shaping up as one of our most memorable andentertaining in years.'

As previously announced Clint Eastwood will receive this year's StanleyKubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film.

Anthony Minghella will receive the John SchlesingerBritannia Award For Artistic Excellence in Directing, Rachel Weisz will collectthe Britannia Award for Artist of the Year, and Sidney Poitier will receive theCunard Britannia Award for Lifetime Contributions to International Film.

Fry's acting credits include Wilde, Godsford Park, Harry PotterAnd The Chamber Of Secrets,and Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban. He directed the 2003 Evelyn Waughadaptation Bright Young Things.
