Gaga Communications has acquired Japanese rights to comedy Girls Will Be Girls from Cinetic Media for a mid-six figure sum. The deal confirms Sundance's growing importance as a foreign rights-trading arena and precedes any domestic or worldwide-rights deal closed by Cinetic on the film.

Directed by Richard Day, the film, which screens in the Park City At Midnight section, is about three actresses trying to make it in Hollywood. The novelty of the film is that all of the actresses are played by men (Jack Plotnick, Clinton Leupp, Jefferey Roberson).

Girls Will Be Girls has been warmly received at the festival and is one of several films represented by Cinetic which is getting heat at Sundance. Others are Pieces Of April, The Station Agent, Party Monster and documentary Capturing The Friedmans.
