Gene Garlock has been appointed to the new post of senior vicepresident of promotions at Warner Bros Pictures International (WBPI).

Reporting directly to Sue Kroll, president of marketing at WBPI,Garlock will head up the promotions department with particular focus ondeveloping third-party business tied to international releases.

Along with developing and managing ongoing strategic allianceswith major global and regional partners, Garlock will manage WBPI's promotionsoperations in Europe, Latin America and the Asia Pacific region.

"As we increase the number of tentpole films that we release eachyear, we have an appropriate need for large-scale global promotions," Krollsaid in a statement.

"Gene has tremendous experience working with some of the world'sbiggest corporate brands and he is the ideal person to ensure that we'remaximising our promotional partnership opportunities."

Garlock previously headed upGlobal Entertainment and Licensing Partnerships for Equity Marketing, where hewas the primary entertainment and licensing contact for the agency's clientbase and managed international business for Burger King.

Prior to that,he served as executive vice president at Simon Marketing, Inc directing theday-to-day management of the agency's North American business for McDonald'sCorporation.
