UK production company Generator Entertainment will start a July 7 Belfast shoot for its coming of age drama Cherry Bomb.

Two best friends are looking forward to a fun summer until a troubled beauty makes them compete dangerously for her affections.

Newcomers Glen Leyburn and Lisa Barros d'Sa will direct from a screenplay by Daragh Carville (Middletown).

The project is out to cast now.

Cherry Bomb is the second filmfrom Mark Huffam, Simon Bosanquet and Thomas Thorstensson's Generator.They have teamed up with Belfast producer Michael Casey's Green ParkFilms who developed the project with Brian Kirk, and James Flynn'sDublin-based Octagon Films. David Holmes will serve as composer.

Backers include the Irish Film Board, Northern Ireland Screen, BBC Northern Ireland and the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland.

The Little Film Company is handling international sales.

Bosanquet and Huffam set up Generator in 2007 and recently finished the shoot for their first feature, Paddy Breathnach's Freakdog (previously titled Red Mist.) They also have supernatural thriller Ghost Machine ready to go into production after Cherry Bomb.
