The Gerardmer festival has announced the first details surrounding its 2003 vintage which will run from January 29 to February 2, 2003.

On the jury of the horror film fest are Jean-Pierre Jeunet and his former filmmaking partner Marc Caro along with Brotherhood of the Wolf star Samuel Le Bihan, French TV star Veronique Genest, former Cesar nominee Pascal Legitimus and French star Mathilde Seigner. A jury president has yet to be named.

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, this year's edition is subtitled 'la peur au cinema' or fear at the movies.

Confirmed films getting their French premieres are the American remake of The Ring starring Naomi Watts and 28 Days Later from Trainspotting director Danny Boyle.

Although no competition films have yet been announced, a special retrospective of legendary horror films will be toplined by Halloween and The Exorcist. Renewing an old tradition; Gerardmer will also run a racy sidebar entitled 'Fantastic' Hard - Sexe et Fantastique.'

To highlight the special anniversary of the festival, each of the previous years' winning films will be shown including Scream and last year's jury prize winner from Guillermo del Toro The Devil's Backbone.
