Germany's current blockbuster The Miracle Of Bern, which has grossed over $ 14.5m in its first four weeks of release in German cinemas, will open this year's Festival of German Cinema in London on November 27 with director Soenke Wortmann and lead actors Peter Lohmeyer and Louis Klamroth (who are also father and son in real life) in attendance.

This sixth edition of the showcase of new German productions, which is organised by the Export-Union of German Cinema with the Goethe Institut and the German public regional film funds, will also feature Dito Tsintsadze's San Sebastian winner Gun-Shy (Schussangst), Yuksel Yavuz's Directors Fortnight entry A Little Piece Of Freedom (Kleine Freiheit), Maria von Heland's Big Girls Don't Cry and Marc Ottiker's 1/2 Rent (Halbe Miete) as well as sidebars of new German documentaries and shorts and a three-film retrospective dedicated to the late Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
