Thomas Gewecke has been appointed president of Warner Bros Digital Distribution (WBDD) and will focus on developing Warner Bros Home Entertainment Group's global partnerships and digital distribution strategies.

Gewecke most recently served as executive vice president of global digital business for Sony BMG Music Entertainment and will report to president of Warner Bros Home Entertainment Group Kevin Tsujihara.

Gewecke will spearhead expanded activities in the wireless, online, VOD and electronic-sell-through platforms.

'Thomas is a forward-thinking executive with a proven track record of successful execution,' Tsujihara said. 'He will provide innovative leadership to a great team and we are very pleased to welcome him to Warner Bros.'

'The Digital Distribution team, under Kevin's leadership, has secured the company's position at the head of the pack,' Gewecke added. 'I look forward to working with them to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by the emerging digital marketplace.'

Prior to Sony BMG, Gewecke was senior vice president of business development in the digital services group for Sony Music Entertainment and was publisher of the PC World Online Network at International Data Group.
