Mel Gibson will receive theHollywood Producer Of The Year Award at the Hollywood Awards gala ceremony inLos Angeles on Oct 18.

Gibson joins alineup of previously named award-winners at the show including John Travolta(lifetime achievement), Michael Mann (directing), Keira Knightley (breakthroughacting - female) and Jamie Foxx (breakthrough acting - male).

'MelGibson's career exemplifies extraordinary ability, craftsmanship, and determination. He is an excellentexample of a highly talented filmmaker whose work and creative vision are to be honored,' festival founderCarlos de Abreu said.

Gibson won an Oscar asproducer of Braveheart in 1996.This year he produced The Passion Of The Christ, with other credits including Paparazzi currently on release through Fox and last year's The Singing Detective. His company IconProductions has credits including Payback, What Women Want and We Were Soldiers.
