The International Film Festival of India (IFFI), to be held in Goafrom Nov 22 to Dec 2, has quadrupled its prize money to $175,000.

The government-run festival's top honour in its competition section,the Golden Peacock, will have a cash purse of $100,000, while twoSilver Peacocks will have a combined $75,000.

Last year,Taiwanese director Lin Chih Ju's The Wall was awarded the GoldenPeacock with a cash prize of $25,000. The fest opened with ChristianMungiu's Palmes d'Or winner 4 Months, 3 Weeks And 2 Days which latersecured a theatrical release in India.

The Indian governmentis also close to agreeing terms on a co-production treaty with China.'We've agreed the text and we can take it to our respective cabinets inthe next two to three months,' said additional secretary for theInformation and Broadcasting Ministry, Uday Kumar Varma.
