Three year-old Good Machine International has unveiled a string of sales closed during and after the Cannes Film Festival, extending its relationships with key foreign independents such as Entertainment Film Distributors in the UK, Bac Film in France and Constantin Film in Germany, while striking first-time deals with Medusa Film in Italy, Sogepaq in Spain and Asmik Ace in Japan.

'Entertainment took three titles - USA Films' The Barber Movie from film-makers Joel & Ethan Coen, Todd Solondz's as yet untitled new film and Jodie Foster's Flora Plum starring Russell Crowe and Clare Danes.

' Constantin took two films - The Barber Movie and the Todd Solondz picture.

'Asmik Ace took two films - The Barber Movie and Flora Plum.

'Medusa bought The Barber Movie for Italy while Key Films bought the Todd Solondz and Intra Films bought Shirley Barrett's Walk The Talk for the territory.

' Sogepaq bought The Barber Movie for Spain, Lauren Film meanwhile took the Todd Solondz and Flora Plum.

'Bac Films bought The Barber Movie for France.

'Roadshow Film Distributors bought the Todd Solondz for Australia.

' Paradiso bought the Todd Solondz and Flora Plum for Benelux. RCV bought Walk The Talk.

' Preisvideo/Eco Filmes bought Flora Plum for Portugal.

' Era bought Flora Plum for Taiwan.

GMI president David Linde also said that he is continuing his policy of keeping up primary relationships with key distributors in each territory, closing new deals with Rosebud in Greece, Ster Kinekor in South Africa, Skifan in Iceland, Associated Euromedia in Turkey, Shani Film in Israel and Sky Jemah in the Philippines. "The goal of the company is always to present our films in every territory around the world, and in the best setting possible," said Linde. "I'm extremely happy that we've succeeded in just that."

Linde has also promoted Glen Basner to the position of vice president of sales. In his expanded role, Basner will head the sales department. Basner joined Good Machine in 1996 as the director of production where he served as post-production supervisor on such films as Luminous Motion, The Sticky Fingers Of Time and Ride With The Devil. Last year, he moved to GMI as director of sales and business affairs.
