Peter Greenaway's opus The Tulse Luper Suitcases, has secured a clutch of key sales ahead of the world premiere on the last day of competition (Sat 24) of the first instalment: The Moab Story.

Handled by Fortissimo Film Sales, the picture has been sold to Triangel Films for Scandinavia, Atalanta for Portugal and A-Films and Cineart/Cinelibre for Benelux. Earlier pre-buys had included Istituto Luce for Italy and Lauren Films for Spain, while the film has distributors on place in its six co-producer countries.

"It is really important to have people attached as this is such an event film," said Fortissimo co-chief Wouter Barendrecht. "Not only does Tulse Luper show that Greenaway is back on terrific form, this film presents fabulous opportunities for distributors who like marketing to get stuck into. The release is accompanied by books, DVDs and internet operations."

Greenaway is working to complete the next two feature instalments in time for the Venice festival in September and Berlin or Cannes next year.
