Nick Hurran, whose Plots With A View was sold to Miramax Films for domestic, has signed to direct romantic comedy Stardust for Luxembourg-based The Carousel Picture Company with Heather Graham attached to star and James Purefoy and Brenda Blethyn in leading roles. Mark Damon's MDP Worldwide is handling sales on behalf of Carousel.

Damon is also handling George & The Dragon, Carousel's action adventure directed by Tom Reeve and starring Purefoy, Michael Clarke Duncan, Piper Perabo, Val Kilmer, Patrick Swayze, Simon Callow and Joan Plowright.

In Stardust, Graham would play a mysterious American who shows up one night in a small sheltered village in the hills of northern Italy and causes mayhem in the conservative community. Purefroy will play the professor who falls for her.

Producers are George Lascu, Todd Moyer and Romain Schroeder, with Cyndy Kuipers and Tom Reeve executive producing. Drew Fleming and Richard Lewis wrote the screenplay. The film is set to shoot in Italy, Germany and at Carousel Studios in Luxembourg from July.

Carousel's recent credits include The Musketeer, The Extremists, Dog Soldiers and TV movie The Lost Battalion.

Plots With A View, which is sold in Cannes by Vine International Pictures, also stars Blethyn with Christopher Walken, Alfred Molina, Lee Evans and Naomi Watts.
