Andrew Herwitz's NewYork-based producers rep outfit The Film Sales Company has closed a sale ofdocumentary Last Party 2000 to IDDistribution in France, just a week before the film screens in the Panoramasidebar of the Deauville Festival Of American Film.

The film, directed byDonovan Leitch and Rebecca Chaiklin and produced by Stanley Buchthal, exploreshow the American political process addresses some of the most pressing issuesfacing the country. Narrated on screen by Philip Seymour Hoffman, the filmfeatures behind-the-scenes footage of both the Republican and DemocraticConventions and is a follow-up to Last Party which was filmed in 1992.

"Discerning Frenchaudiences will respond to this powerful, evocative film which shares a veryintimate view of America," said Isabelle Dubar of ID Distribution whonegeotiated the deal with Herwitz.

Herwitz formed The FilmSales Company when he left his position as co-president of acquisitions atMiramax Films in Feb this year.
