The star of The Master will collect the 28th Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Cinema Vanguard Award on Jan 31.

Adams will receive a tribute during the festival. Her career credits include The Fighter, Junebug, Doubt and Enchanted. She will shoot Untitled David O Russell Film – formerly known as American Bullshit – in early 2013 and plays Lois Lane in the Warner Bros summer tentpole Man Of Steel.

“Amy Adams is one of the gutsiest and most gifted actors working today,” said SBIFF executive director Roger Durling. “She embodies what the Cinema Vanguard Award is all about, and after her performance in The Master the time has come to recognise her talent and versatility.”

Prior recipients of the Cinema Vanguard Award include Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo, Nicole Kidman, Peter Sarsgaard, Christoph Waltz, Stanley Tucci, Vera Farmiga, Kristin Scott Thomas and Ryan Gosling.

The festival is scheduled to run from Jan 24-Feb 3.
