Industry veterans put down deal memos long enough to share some tunes on Santa Monica Pier.

Our friends at Moviehouse Entertainment are rocking out at AFM for the fourth year running.

Like free In-N-Out burgers on set-up day, the Moviehouse music night at Rusty’s on the pier has become an annual highlight of the market.

The evening kicks off with a set from the The Diamond Dogs – described as “where glam rock meets hard rock.” Mark Vennis, Moviehouse partner and part-time rock god, goes one step further to reveal that the sound will be “Bowie meets AC/DC.”

The Blueshouse Outfit takes the stage for the second half of the evening.

In addition to Vennis, the industry-heavy lineup will feature D’Arcy Conrique from law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, Doug Hansen from Endgame, Michael Kananack, veteran of Camelot and NeoClassics, and the hoochie coochie man himself, Michael Ryan from GFM Films.

There’s no guestlist this year, so everyone’s invited (space permitting). One attendee we always look forward to seeing at Rusty’s every year is Jeff ‘The Dude’ Dowd, the producers’ rep who inspired the infamous character in The Big Lebowski.

Moviehouse partner Gary Phillips says the company is glad to be supporting a bit of fun. “People enjoy it, and it doesn’t interfere with business.”

It may not be fancy but it beats sharing chardonnays with the sleazy leather-clad ‘producers’ hanging out at the Loews bar.

See you on the pier from 8:30 Friday night.

If you really enjoy the evening, you could always buy Vennis’ new CD; or go wild and just buy a film from Moviehouse.
