Hot Fuzz-inspired swan one of sixty swans set to be auctioned by McCubbing & Redfern for charity.

Having been displayed in public locations in and around Wells, Somerset this summer, sixty swan sculptures are set to be auctioned for charity by Wells’ auctioneers McCubbing & Redfern on Sept 29.

The 5ft limited edition sculptures are sponsored by local and regional business, organisations and community groups and transformed into individual works of contemporary art. Among them is one inspired by films entitled Oscar [pictured], featuring the Queen and her corgis sporting old-school 3D glasses, and one inspired by Hot Fuzz [below], replete with sunglasses as befitting Sergeant Angel and PC Butterman and stills from the film.

Prior to the Swans of Wells 2012 auction, which will see a guest appearance from BBC’s Homes under the Hammer presenter Martin Roberts, the sixty sculptures were on display this past weekend at Bishop’s Palace in Wells.

Proceeds from the auction will go to local Wells charities, with certain sculptures set to be snapped up immediately. For more information, visit the Swans of Wells website.
