British Airways launches short film mentoring programme

A budding scriptwriter will have a chance to see their career take off by screening their short film to millions of customers on BA flights during the 2012 Olympic Games.

The airline is launching a mentoring programme, Great Britons, with the purpose of developing and supporting fresh talent by offering them one-to-one mentoring from top experts in their field as well as a chance to expose their work to BA passengers and Olympics audiences. 

In the film category British Airways has teamed up with actor, director and scriptwriter Richard E Grant who will help the chosen writer to develop their short film. The script needs to be inspired by ‘London’s journey to The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games’ and the winner will be selected by a panel of judges, including Richard E Grant and BAFTA.

“This is a massive and unique opportunity to create a piece of film that will be seen by literally millions of people. I’m looking forward to discovering and working with a true talent to bring their idea to life,” said Grant.

The film will then be produced by a leading London-based production company and screened on flights as well as on the screens of the Olympic Park during the pre-show to the Opening Ceremony.

Entry is open on www.greatbritons.ba.com to any UK passport holders aged 16 or above and applicants don’t need to be professionals in their chosen field. Applications close on July 27.
