Here Come The 'Boys'
Bret McKenzie meets a hot meat pie and a ginger cat in this Berlin-bound irreverent Kiwi comedy.
Because it’s my duty as a film journalist to keep our readers up to date on hot new films, and moreover because every woman I know wants to see Bret McKenzie in his pants, I had to share this first image from Robert Sarkies’ new film Two Little Boys.
The film will have its world premiere in Berlin’s Generation section before Hopscotch releases it in New Zealand on March 15. (Lest anyone turn up their nose at the Generation section, it’s not just for kids and teenagers! Remember this is where we’ve seen the premieres of great films like Shane Meadows’ Somerstown and Taika Waititi’s Boy.)
Sarkies directs his third feature adapted from the novel of the same name by his brother Duncan Sarkies (cool, keeping it in the family). Vicky Pope and Tim White produce.
The irreverent comedy stars Bret McKenzie (of Flight of the Conchords for those of you who have been living under a rock) as Nige, who has a series of misadventures from his recently estranged best friend since childhood, Deano (Hamish Blake). Audiences are promised “an unfortunate incident involving a hot meat pie, a ginger cat and the untimely death of a Scandinavian soccer star.”
