New projects added to Screen’s online production database includes South Africa set thriller Layla FourieI as well as UK comedy I Give It A Year.

A single mother in South Africa receives a job assignment as a polygraphist, but she soon becomes a suspect herself. Shooting on Layla FourieI is currently underway in South Africa with Pia Marais directing and Rayna Campbell and August Diehl in the starring roles. Marais also wrote the screenplay alongside Horst Markgraf.

The thriller is set up as co-production between Germany’s Pandora Films, France’s Cinéma De Facto and South Africa’s DV8. Funding comes from the German Federal Film Board and the Dutch Film Fund among others. Shooting is scheduled to last until May with Real Fiction Filmverleih releasing in Germany and Match Factory handling international sales.

Rose Byrne, Anna Faris, Stephen Merchant, Simon Baker and Rafe Spall will star in Dan Mazer’s I Give It A Year. Based on Mazer’s own screenplay, the comedy centres on a young couple’s struggle to save their marriage after a year. Kris Thykier, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are producing for Working Title Films. Shooting is scheduled to commence next month in London and StudioCanal will sell the film internationally.
