Teng Hua-tao's The Matrimony (working title), producedby Beijing-based Huayi Brothers Film Investment, has wrapped after a two-monthshoot in Shanghai.

Starring Leon Lai (Seven Swords) and Rene Liu (A World Without Thieves), the $2.5m filmis a supernatural thriller set in 1930s Shanghai. The story follows a recently-wed couple whosemarriage is in trouble because the groom is obsessed with an ex-girlfriend whorecently died. Fan Bingbing also stars.

Teng previously directedfeatures Sky Of Love and 100' and is also known in China for his TV dramas.

The Matrimony is scheduled for release in the first part of 2007. Huayi Brothers,which recently formed a sales operation, is handling international sales.

Huayi Brothers is alsodeveloping a war movie, to be directed by Feng Xiaogang, which is scheduled tostart shooting this autumn. Feng's most recent film, The Banquet, created a buzz at Cannes and sold to several distributors including France's StudioCanal.

Also at Cannes, Huayi Brothers boarded Hong Kong-based SundreamMotion Pictures' upcoming production HowlingArrow as co-producer. The $16m period gangster film will be directed bymartial arts veteran Sammo Hung.
