Hugh Grant is to receive BAFTA/LA's Stanley Kubrick BritanniaAward for Excellence in Film at the 12th Annual Britannia Awards in Los Angeleson Nov 8

"We are pleased to behonouring Hugh Grant, who is an accomplished stage and screen actor both in theUK and the United States," BAFTA/LA chairman Gary Dartnall said in a statement.

"His talent and keen intelligence has distinguished him as one ofthe best and brightest in contemporary cinema."

Grant's international break-out role was in Mike Newell's 1994romantic comedy Four Weddings And A Funeral, which he has followed up with a stringof acclaimed performances in Notting Hill, Bridget Jones's Diary, About ABoy and Two WeeksNotice, among others.

He will next star in Richard Curtis' upcoming romantic comedy LoveActually, which opens inmost major markets in November.

Previousrecipients of the Britannia Award include Michael Caine, Martin Scorsese,Anthony Hopkins, George Lucas and the late Stanley Kubrick, after whom thehonour is named.
