A true winner at last weekend's Hungarian box office was local feature Happy Birthday! (Boldog Szuletesnapot!). The debut film from local director Csaba Fazekas (pictured), it tells the story of a young man who turns 30, and realizes he doesn't have a wife, a house, a car, children and has never made love to two women at the same time. He therefore decides to get it all on his birthday.

If good word of mouth spreads to help Happy Birthday!, which opened on just 12 screens, then the comedy could follow in the footsteps of Gabor Herendi's A Kind of America which drew over half a million admissions.

Meanwhile UIP's launch for Angelina Jolie starrer Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life was unable to wrestle the lead from incumbent leader Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines. The Tomb Raider sequel drew five thousand less admissions over its premiere weekend than T3 took in its third.
