Isabelle Huppert is to star in Ma Mere, an adaptation of the erotic novel by Georges Bataille which to be directed by Christophe Honore

Ma Mere is produced Paolo Branco and his company Gemini Films. Shooting begins on the film, for which budget details were unavailable, in October in the Canary Islands.

Huppert plays a mother initiating her son into libertinism and beyond. Joining Huppert in the cast are Luis Garrel and Emma de Caunes.

No release date has been set for the film but it is highly likely to make the festival rounds next year.

The casting of Huppert follows on for her recent work in Michael Haneke's The Piano Teacher, for which she won an acting award at Cannes and more recently a role as a prostitute in Olivier Dahan's Ghost River.

Christophe Honore recently directed 17 Fois Cecile Collard.
