Icon has acquired UK and Australian rights to Karl Golden's second feature film Pelican Blood. The Honeymooners (2003) was his first feature.

The film is based on the cult novel by Cris Freddi with the screenplay by Cris Cole. The film is a collaboration between Magna Films, P&C Arcade Film Fund, EM Media, Icon Entertainment International, Molinare and Ecosse Films. Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae of Ecosse Films are producing.

Pelican Blood is set in the world of obsessive bird spotters and follows Nikko, a young man living in London who throws himself into birdspotting as a means of getting over his break up with his girlfriend.

The cast includes Harry Treadaway (The Disappeared, Love You More) and Emma Booth (Clubland).

'Icon is delighted to be working with Ecosse on such an exciting and original project featuring the very best in up-and-coming talent coupled with a truly contemporary script from Cris Cole,' said Mark Gooder, CEO of Icon.

Suzanne Alizart of EM Media comments, 'We are thrilled to be working alongside Ecosse Films and Icon International on Pelican Blood. The project is driven by bright young creative talent, and its original story and distinctive characters make this an exciting addition to EM Media's slate.'

Principal photography will start in early November in the UK.
