IMAX Corporation has signedagreements to install giant-screen cinema systems in Guatemala City, Guatemalaand San Jose, Costa Rica, the first IMAX facilities in both countries.

The deals are with CircuitoAlba and Repretel, leading media and entertainment companies with operations inGuatemala and Costa Rica, respectively. Both facilities will accommodate IMAXtraditional large-format fare as well as its DMR digitally remastered versionsof Hollywood blockbusters.

The company says the twoagreements reflect the growing commercial appeal internationally of DMRversioning. "Latin America isa relatively untapped market where we have the opportunity to expand into manyother countries across the region and these deals underscore that potential," said IMAX co-chairmen andco-CEOs Richard Gelfond and Bradley Wechlser in a statement.

The Guatemala City cinemawill be part of a nine-screen multiplex in the 225-store Pradera-Concepcionshopping mall, and is expected to open by the end of this year. The San Josecinema is scheduled to open next year at a location to be announced.
