TheIndian government is to organise a Pakistani Film Festival in Mumbai thisyear.

TheIndian Minister for Culture and Tourism Ambika Soni, in a visit to Lahore forthe premiere of Indian film Taj Mahalmet with Punjab Governor Afzal Sahi and offered to screen Pakistani Punjabifilms.

Earlieron 26th April, the premiere of Taj Mahalwas held in Lahore, marking a break in a 41-year-old Pakistani government banon Indian movies.

Hundredsof jubilant Pakistanis thronged the cinema for the premiere, where several India actors includingproducer director Akbar Khan, Fardeen Khan, Feroz Khan, Manisha Koirala, SanjayKhan and Kabir Bedi were present.

Thefilm's Pakistani distributors are Karachi based Satish Anand of EvereadyPictures.

FilmmakerAkbar Khan told Screen Daily, "The Lahorepremiere of Taj Mahal is something I willnever forget. It was attended by 500 dignitaries. Plus a whole lot of otherenthusiasts. The theatre was completely jam-packed."

AkbarKhan now plans to shoot his next film Changez Khan in Pakistan.

Pakistanimposed a ban on Indian films in its cinemas shortly before the countriesfought their second war, in 1965.
