India 's Century Communications Ltd (CCL) and producer Deepak Nayar have launched an internet-based film competition portal, www.filmaka.in, designed by established filmmakers to discover emerging talent in India.

The site has been launched following the success of www.filmaka.com. The huge number of films submitted by Indian filmmakers to the global site encouraged this India-specific extension. It aims to discover new talent and provide aspiring filmmakers with an opportunity to showcase their talents to global audiences.

A jury including Indian filmmakers such as Shabana Azmi, Vishal Bhardwaj, Ashutosh Gowariker and Naseeruddin Shah will select filmmakers to move up through the various levels of the competition until the final contest in which they have a chance to win a feature film contract or a runner-up cash prize.

In addition to Nayar, who is a producer and financier of films such as Bend It Like Beckham and Bride And Prejudice, the initiative has been founded by several prominent Hollywood and Indian executives.

These include Future Film Group founder Tim Levy, Eden Rock Media's Thomas Augsberger, Film Finances executive vice president Kurt Woolner, Indian director Mahesh Mathai (Bhopal Express) and CCL chairman PK Tewari and director Anand Tewari.

CCL is an integrated media and entertainment company involved in the ad sales business through Pearl Media and post-production under the Pixion brand.
