Celebrated Spanish film Take My Eyes (Te Doy Mis Ojos) has become the first European picture to be bought collectively by multi-national buying consortium Indie Circle.

The deal was struck with seller Sogepaq following its screening in San Sebastian and means the film will be assured of distribution in France (through Haut Et Court), The Netherlands (A-Film), Belgium (Cineart/Cinelibre), Italy (Lucky Red/EyeScreen) and Switzerland (Frenetic)

The film, directed by Iciar Bollain, is a powerful story of domestic abuse which won lead actor (Luis Tosar) and lead actress (Laia Marull) the top acting prizes at San Sebastian.

"Take My Eyes is a very important step for us as Indie Circle was conceived above all as a European distribution system and this is the first European film acquired this way," said Stefano Massenzi, head of acquisitions at Lucky Red.

Indie Circle received its soft launch in April this year and launched officially in Venice. In Cannes it bought Afghan drama Osama and has since been involved in the acquisition of Venice winner The Return for Italy and Switzerland.

Massenzi said: "Take My Eyes is an evergreen subject, done very touchingly and with great craft." It was released in Spain by Alta Films this weekend where it grossed $404,818 from 80 screens.
