Principal photography commenced last week on location in Germany on Quentin Tarantino's world war two adventure Inglourious Basterds - spelt that way as per the producers.
The ensemble cast includes Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Daniel Bruhl, Til Schweiger, Melanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Eli Roth, B J Novak, Julie Dreyfus and Cloris Leachman.
Lawrence Bender is producing alongside executive producers Erica Steinberg, Lloyd Phillips and Bob and Harvey Weinstein.
The Weinstein Company (TWC) and Universal Pictures are co-financing in association with Zehnte Babelsberg Film. TWC is handling the North American release and has it eyes on a coveted world premiere slot at Cannes next May. Universal will distribute overseas through UPI.
The film will shoot at Studio Babelsberg as well as in Berlin, Saxony and Paris. The story takes place in German-occupied France, where a vengeful victim of the Nazis encounters a unit led by a US officer set up overthrow the Third Reich.
