Boutique distributor International Film Circuit has acquired allUS rights to Lesley Ann Patten's documentary Words Of My Perfect Teacher and plans a summer domestic release.

The ZIJI Film and Television and National Film Board of Canada co-productionfollows three students on a quest for wisdom, all the while watched closely byKhyentse Norbu, their football-crazy teacher and one of the world's preeminentBuddhists.

The picture includesappearances by Bernardo Bertolucci and Steven Seagal and was filmed in the UK,Bhutan, Canada, the US. Footage from this summer's World Cup in Germany will beincluded.

"The original reason I did the film was to address a commonyearning we all have to be Harry Potter - to go to magic school and to learn somethingextraordinary," Patten said.

"But while making the film we discovered that strange andwonderful things can also happen to those of us who live in the realworld."

"Khyentse Norbu's elusiveness as the film's subject becomes aspiritual lesson in itself, and Patten and her fellow students' willingness tobare all provides moments of both hilarity and enlightenment," InternationalFilm Circuit president Wendy Lidell added.

International Film Circuit's recent releases include Darwin's Nightmare,Shakespeare Behind Bars,and Stolen.

Lidell previously served as head of theatrical releasing atthe now defunct Wellspring Media.
