The international documentary market Sunny Side of the Docwill celebrate its fifteenth anniversary when it runs from June 19-22. Set inMarseille, the market will welcome 1,800 professionals from the world over andhas added a day in order to meet growing industry demand and interest.

In 2003, 284 buyers and commissioning editors travelled tothe port city with 300 expected this year. So far, 328 companies have signed onto participate including an increased presence by the BBC, Canal Plus and theLagardere Group.

John Willis, director of Factual and Learning at the BBCwill be the guest of honour and, for the first time, a Chinese delegation fromthe culture ministry will be welcomed at the market.

Among the activities on the agenda for the three day eventare open pitch meetings, forums on investigative documentaries, docu-fiction,natural history documentaries and the future of the documentary. A new prizewill go to the French producer with the most promising project alongside thePrix Voyage and the euros 10,000 Olivier Masson prize.
