BuenaVista's American football drama Invincible held on to the number one spot with a $15.2m four-day haul over theLabor Day holiday weekend and stayed ahead of new releases Crank in second place and The Wicker Man in third.

FoxSearchlight's comedy Little Miss Sunshinefell one place to fourth on an excellent $9.7m for $35.8m after six weekends,while Yari Film Group's period mystery The Illusionist had a spectacular expansion, climbing nine places to fifthon $8m for $12.1m after five.

Overallit was a solid Labor Day weekend, a time when the summer blockbuster seasonofficially ends and children prepare to return to school. The top 12 titlescombined for $98.7m, up slightly against Labor Day 2005.

Thegenerally well-received Crank opened on$13m. It stars Jason Statham as an assassin who is poisoned and has limitedtime to find an antidote.

TheWicker Man, Neil LaBute's remake of thecult UK horror picture from 1973, opened on $11.7m. It stars Nicolas Cage as asheriff lured to an island to investigate a missing girl case and opened topoor reviews.

Sony'sTalladega Nights fell four places tosixth on $7.7m for an impressive $138.4m, while Paramount's World TradeCenter plunged four places to ninth on$5.8m for $63.7m after four weekends.

Sony'sbasketball drama Crossover openedoutside the top 10 on $4.5m, while IFC's film censorship documentary ThisFilm Is Not Yet Rated opened in twotheatres on $41,664 and will expand throughout September.

PiratesOf The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest climbedone place to 11th in its ninth weekend and added $5.1m for $414.2m.

Nextweekend's wide releases are Focus Features' 1950s mystery Hollywoodland starring Ben Affleck, Adrien Brody and Diane Lane; Sony'shorror tale The Covenant directed byRenny Harlin; and TWC's Thai martial arts picture The Protector, which stars Tony Jaa.
