Iranian films dominated awards at the 12th International Film Festival in Hyderbad, India. Children Of Petroleum directed by Ebrahim Forouzesh won the Golden Elephant for the best feature film in the international competition. The Silver Elephant for the best director went to Rassul Sadr Ameli for Iranian film Girl In Sneakers.

The Silver Elephant in the Asian Panorama section went to another Iranian film Child And The Soldier by Seyyed Reza Mir Karimi. Shangoul And Mongoul directed by Iraninans Farkhondeh Torabi and Morteza Ahadi won the Silver Elephant for the best animated short.

From India, Seema Chakraborty won the Special Jury Award for her role in Ranu directed by Shyamal Karmakar. The child jury award went to Thomas The Falconer directed by Vaclav Vorlicek. The Goal by Gul Bahar Singh and Ra-Tim-Bum-Castle by Cao Hamburger got special mentions from the jury.

The Silver Elephant for the best child artist went to Dimitris Alexandris for his role in Canary Yellow Bicycle from Greece. The Silver Elephant for best non-fiction film went to Media a film from the Czech Republic directed by Paval Koutsky.

The Silver Elephant for the best live action fiction short went to German film Lotte Primaballerina by Marc-Andreas Bochert. Tsatsiki, Mum And The Policeman scooped both the awards for best live action feature in the International Competition and the international critic's jury award.
