The Galway Film Fleadh (July 10 - 15) will host masterclasses in acting, directing and screenwriting given respectively by Jeremy Irons, Volker Schlondorff, and Terry George.

Events confirmed so far for the 19th edition of the Fleadh include the Real Deal day-long finance and distribution seminar and a New Media session. The seminar will look at the way in which Irish low budget title Once was successfully launched in the North American market having been spotted by a Sundance scout at its premiere in Galway last year.

Other seminar sessions will enquire into the purpose of film festivals, the financing and distribution synergy that exists in Scandinavia, and the current role of European broadcasters in film financing.

The New Media Panel will examine opportunities the new interactive environment can offer to the producer using new media to create an audience, while testing the story and concept.

The Fleadh programme is due to be announced in full on June 25, with a strong line up of new Irish features expected.

The deadline for applications for places in any of the masterclasses is 5pm on June 29. Further information is available from masterclasses@galwayfilmfleadh.com.
