Real-life couple Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel, lately seen in French film-maker Christophe Gans' hit title Brotherhood Of The Wolf, are joined again in Gaspard Noe's Irreversible, which started shooting at the end of July.

In Irreversible, which is Noe's second film after the award-winning horror Seul Contre Tous (I Stand Alone), Bellucci plays a woman who has been raped and whose boyfriend and ex-husband seek revenge.

The $4m (Ffr30m) film is produced by Christophe Rossignon (Nord-Ouest Productions) and Richard Grandpierre (Eskwad) in co-production with StudioCanal. StudioCanal's specialty division Wild Bunch will handle international sales.

After Irreversible, Bellucci will appear in the Matrix sequel while Cassel will again team with Gans for an adaptation of the adventures of comic book character Bob Morane.
