Robert Rodriguez's gun-slinger Once Upon A Time In Mexico knocked Love Actually off the top spot at the Italian box office over the weekend, grossing a strong $1.8m from 283 screens for BVI.

The Johnny Depp vehicle, which premiered to much publicity at the Venice Film Festival in September, scored an impressive screen average of $6,365.

UIP's Love Actually continued to perform impressively, grossing a further $1,447,296 for UIP which brings its running total to $4,677,872 two weeks into its release.

New opener Tears Of The Sun also had a good weekend. Italian audiences lured by Bruce Willis helped the film earn $824,508 for top local distributor Medusa with a high screen average of $3,731.

Meanwhile, Italian hit Caterina In The City continues to prove its solidity at the box office. The film, directed by Paolo Virzi, has now earned $3,817,896 for 01 Distribution five weeks after its release.
