Film financier Ivan Mactaggart has joined UK production company Trademark Films as a partner.

Mactaggart is currently director, film and media funds for film financiers BMS Finance, where he has helped to fund features including Moon and Made In Dagenham.

He will continue to consult at BMS, whilst acting as a producer/executive producer on all films in the Trademark slate, along with Oscar/BAFTA winning producer David Parfitt.

The move will cement the existing partnership between Trademark and BMS which was established when Parfitt joined BMS’s advisory committee and Mactaggart joined the Trademark board.

Trademark is currently in post production on Simon Curtis’ My Week With Marilyn, which is co financed by BMS, The Weinstein Company, BBC Films and LipSync.

Mactaggart, who has also worked for BBC Films and The Works, said “There are only four active producers in the UK who have won the Best Picture Oscar, so the chance to join one of them was irresistible. There is undeniably a market opportunity at the moment for producers of high quality content and I aim to ensure that Trademark makes the most of it.” [Parfitt was an Oscar winner for Shakespeare In Love.]

Parfitt added: “Ivan’s business and financing skills are exactly what we need at Trademark and I’m delighted he has agreed to join us. Ivan is the missing piece in our jigsaw and absolutely what is needed to take Trademark to the next stage of its development.”
