British actress Jaime Winstone has been lined up to star in Elfie Hopkins And The Gammons, the first British horror film to be shot in 3D.

It will be first project from boutique production house Size 9 Productions, which is in the final stages of financing the film.

Welsh director Ryan Andrews will helm the project and Michael Wiggs and Steve Matthews, whose previous credits include TV films Sweeney Todd and Compulsion, from Size 9 will produce.

The project is being produced in association with UK distribution partner Vertigo Films. It will be set and shot in Wales and will starting shooting this winter.

Winstone, daughter of actor Ray Winstone, will play a teenage misfit and “wannabe detective” Elfie Hopkins, whose investigations are limited to annoying small-minded residents of the rural village where she lives, until the charismatic but suspicious Gammons family arrive.

Andrews described the film as a “quirky horror and an eclectic mix of comic book characters, British pop culture and fantasy setting in an unusual and twisted world”.

Size 9’s Matthews added: “It’s incredibly exciting to be working at the forefront of the new 3D technology which doesn’t have to be the preserve of the big budget movies. 3D is perfect for Ryan’s dark fairy tale vision.”
