Joe Wright will direct Indian Summer for Working Title and Universal with the screenplay being adapted by William Nicholson from the book of the same name by Alex von Tunzelmann.

Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Hilary Bevan Jones are producing the film.

Itmarks Joe Wright's fourth collaboration with Working Title and the first film in a two picture deal with the company.

Indian Summer will shoot on location in India early 2010. It chronicles the last days of Britain's rule in India when Louis Mountbatten was dispatched to oversee the handing over of power to Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister.

Wright made his feature directing debut with Pride & Prejudice followed by Atonement and The Soloist which will be released in the US on April 24.
