Ele Juarez has abruptly resigned from his position as CEO of HBO Latin America. The movie channel's board of directors have accepted his resignation and appointed Gaston Comas as interim CEO.

Comas has been a member of HBO's board since the company's creation nearly 10 years ago. Rumours that Jose Manuel Pagani would return to take over the reins once more were firmly denied both by him and HBO Latin America.

Juarez was formerly based in Madrid as head of Prisa's audiovisual division before he took over HBO Latin America. He was instrumental in forcing Argentine cable operators to accept HBO as a premium movie channel. Before Juarez took action, HBO was being offered as a basic cable channel in Argentina.
