Pan-Asian Korean star Gianna Jun (My Sassy Girl), formerly known as Jun Ji-hyun, is making her local comeback in the upcoming film from Chung Yoon-chul, director of the hit Marathon.

The actress/model just finished shooting Edko Films/Pathe France's Blood: The Last Vampire with director Chris Nahon this August.

Her last two films - Windstruck (2004), from My Sassy Girl director Kwak Jae-yong, and Daisy (2006) directed by Hong Kong's Andrew Lau and also starring Korea's Lee Sung-jae and Jung Woo-sung - did decent but diminishing local box office (2.2m and 1m admissions respectively) while achieving success elsewhere throughout the region.

Hwang Jung-min (You Are My Sunshine), who is shooting to the top of male leads ranks in Korea, will star in the new film as a man who thinks he is Superman and tries to help his neighbours.

Jun will play a realistic and unsympathetic producer who tries to take advantage of this Superman to shoot a human documentary.

Although the film has yet to see an international title, the original Korean title Supuhman-ee-ut-dun Sana-ee translates to The Man Who Once Was Superman.

Produced by leading industry player CJ Entertainment, the film is due to start shooting this autumn, and is aiming for a release in early 2008.
