Russian director Ilya Khrzhanovsky received theBreaking Waves Award, the grand prize at the 13th Titanic BudapestInternational Film Festival, for his film 4.

Khrzhanovsky received the award from AndrasBozoki, Hungarian minister for culture, at a gala ceremonyApril 8 that concluded with a screening of French director Jacques Audiard's The Beat That My HeartSkipped.

Competition was tight amongthe nine contenders for the top award and $9,694 (Euros 8,000).

This year's instalment ofthe festival was the first in which an international jury selected a winner forthe grand prize. Jury chairman Shane Danielsen, artisticdirector of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, also singled out twoother competition films for praise - Me And You And Everyone We Know from U.S. director Miranda July and The Iron Island from Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof.

The audience award went to Me And You AndEveryone We Know, with Tommy Lee Jones' TheThree Burials Of Melquiades Estrada and Lexi Alexander's Hooligansfinishing second and third, respectively, in audience popularity.

Festival director Gyorgy Horvath told ScreenDaily.comthat organizers estimated nearly 20,000 people attended the 10-day festival.
