Kimmel International has closed key deals on its new Cannes films, kicking off with Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut Synecdoche, New York which went to Asmik Ace in Japan and Bim in Italy.

Meanwhile Kimmel sales chief Mark Lindsay reported that MovieEye in Japan and Senator in Germany bought Tarsem Singh's political thriller Unthinkable, and On Pictures in Spain picked up both Unthinkable and renaissance fair comedy Ye Olde Times starring Jack Black and Cary Elwes.

Kimmel also closed its three new films - Synecdoche, Unthinkable and Ye Olde Times - to Italia in the middle east, Lusomundo in Portugal and Aqua Pinema in Turkey.
