US independent distributor Kino International hasacquired three titles at the recently-concluded Cannes Film Festival.

The titlesare: Im Sang Soo's The President's Last Bang from South Korea andIranian director Mohammad Rasoulof's Iron Island - both of which playedin Directors' Fortnight - along with French director Karin Albou's La PetiteJerusalem which screened in Critics' Week.

Kino plansan October 2005 release for The President's Last Bang and an early 2006release for Iron Island.

La PetiteJerusalem is set for a January 2006 opening following US Jewish filmfestival exposure.

Kinopresident Don Krim and general manager Gary Palmucci negotiated the threeacquisitions with: MK Pictures' MarkYoon on The President's Last Bang,Sheherazad Media International's Katayoon Shahabi on Iron Island,and Pyramide International's Pascal Josee on La Petite Jerusalem.

Kino opensVolker Schlondorff's The Ninth Day this week in New York and KerenYedaya's Or (last year's Cannes Camera d'or winner) there on June 1.

Thecompany also has Yvan Attal's Happily Ever After currently in nationalrelease.
