Korea’s Daisy & Cinergy cues up Cannes duo
Korea’s Daisy & Cinergy is producing and selling two upcoming projects from Im Sang-soo, whose The Taste Of Money is screening in competition, and Hur Jin-ho, whose Dangerous Liaisons has been selected for Directors’ Fortnight.
Hur’s project, The Last Princess, combines fiction and history in a story about Korea’s Princess Duk-hae who was forced to live in Japan and marry a Japanese count. Moon Geun-young (Love Me Not) will star in the film which Hur expects to start shooting this year. Kim Hyun-jeong and Lee Han-eol are scripting the project.
Meanwhile, Daisy is also producing Eoeul-Wudong, which will be written and produced by Im and directed by a new talent. The film revolves around a real-life 16th century noblewoman who was executed for her sexual and political maneuvering. Im’s Filmpasmal will co-produce with Daisy.
Founded in 2005, producer-distributor Daisy & Cinergy recently launched an international sales division which is handling Im’s The Taste Of Money; Kim Yong-han’s Don’t Cry Mommy and horror omnibus Horror Stories.
