Film Movement has acquired domestic rights to Fernando Eimbcke's Mexican drama Lake Tahoe, winner of the FIPRESCI Award and the Alfred Bauer Prize at the 2008 Berlinale.

The film follows the antics of a teenager who escapes from his miserable home life only for his car to break down, leading to a series of encounters with bizarre characters.

Film Movement's Adley Gartenstein brokered the deal with Peter Dunner of Funny Balloons.

'We waited four years to see what the original voice that came through in Duck Season (Temporada De Patos) had in store for us, and director Fernando Eimbecke did not disappoint, giving us one of the top films at this year's Berlinale,' Gartenstein said.

'We are thrilled and proud to be the US home of Lake Tahoe, the incredibly accomplished sophomore effort of this up-and-coming young director.'
