Larry Clark is involved in two new projects, one as director and another as executive producer.

As a director, Larry Clark has signed on to direct A Good Way To Die, the chronicle of a cross-country odyssey of two young men and the woman they both love based on the novel by cult US writer Jim Harrison.

Producer is Thierry de Ganay of Paris and London-based Lambart Productions, with a screenplay by Adam Davidson and Tom Hedley.

Asbury Park, the coming-of-age film which Clark is executive producing, is the first feature from UK producer Stella Nwimo.

Set within a forgotten beach community in Asbury Park, New Jersey, the film follows the struggles of two 18-year-old girls who dream of leaving the town. Director of the $1.75m film is photographer-turned-director Beata Henrichs, who has a writing credit on Larry Clark's Bully. Shooting is scheduled to start in the US in August.

Cast as the female leads are Monica Keena (Orange County), Jessica Campbell (Election) and William Forsythe (City By The Sea). Cult UK electronic-rock outfit Death In Vegas is scoring the film.

"It is a little like early Pasolini," said Nwimo. "Raw and energised, but quite beautiful."

Backup Films, which is packaging finance, has sold Italian rights to Revolver, worth around 10% of the budget. Half of the finance will come from a Canadian matching equity fund, with the remainder from further presales.

Nwimo, one of this year's European Film Promotion's Producers On The Move will produce Asbury Park through her development and production company Riverchild Films. The outfit has a slate deal with UK support body The Film Council to develop features. Nwimo's first produced short, Is It The Design On The Wrapper' won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1997.

Other features in development at Riverchild include romantic comedy Cross Your Heart; Braids, a tale of sibling rivalry set in the world of black hair and beauty; Barrie White's Berlin-set crime-thriller BearFace, scheduled for production in October 2003; and an adaptation of the novel The Emperor's Babe set in Roman London.
