Jean van de Velde's Leak (Lek) grabbed four top awards, including the Golden Calves for best feature and best director, at this year's 20th Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht (September 20-29).

The film, hotly tipped as the Netherlands' official entry for next year's foreign-language Oscar, also picked up Golden Calves for best script (van de Velde and Simon de Waal) and best actor (Victor Low).

The jury, headed by former Netherlands festival director Jacques van Heijningen, praised the thriller - loosely based on a local police scandal that shook the country a few years ago - for its iron script and strong performances.

The Golden Calf for best actress went to Willeke van Ammelrooy for her performance in Robbe De Hert's Soft Soap (Lijmen/Het Been). Heddy Honigmann's Crazy won the Golden Calf for best feature-length documentary while Carin Goeijers' De Nieuwerwetse Wereld was awarded best short documentary and Jesse de Jong's Een Intens Realistisch Doch Romantisch Liefdesdrama won best short.

A special jury award went to Dutch producer Pieter van Huystee who had 11 documentaries selected for this year's festival. The Critics Award went to Erik de Bruyn's Wild Mussels (Wilde Mosselen).

Ties Poeth's animated Music For An Owl received this year's Holland Film Award, which goes to the Dutch film that was selected for the highest number of festivals in the past 12 months.
