Santa Monica-based sales and distribution company Lightning Entertainment has acquired international rights to the crime thrillerLa Linea starring Andy Garcia and Ray Liotta.

Lightning Entertainment co-president Richard Guardian will commencesales at AFM next month on the story of a veteran assassin on thetrail of a Mexican cartel leader. Endeavor holds North Americanrights.

James Cotten directed from a screenplay by R Ellis Frazier, who alsoproduced with Geoffrey G Ross. The key cast includes Esai Morales,Armand Assante, Bruce Davison, Jason Connery, Danny Trejo and GaryDaniels.

Guardian and Lightning's senior vice president of acquisitions JosephDickstein brokered the deal with the producers represented byEndeavor's Alexis Garcia.

'La Linea is filled with layered and flawed characters, all with theirown agendas as they seek some form of clarity and purpose,' Guardiansaid.
