Singapore 's publicly listed Scorpio East Group has appointed Lim Teck as general manager of its subsidiary Scorpio East Pictures, effective from August 1.

In his new role, Lim will manage and further develop film production and acquisition projects as well as oversee the home video and artiste management business.

This year, the company has already invested in Royston Tan's new musical 881, which opens next month, as well as Malaysia-Singapore co-production Ah Long Ltd by Jack Neo. It began to ramp up production last year with Neo's I Not Stupid Too in collaboration with MediaCorp Raintree Pictures.

The company started off as a home video distributor and is currently a licensee of Hong Kong 's TVB, China 's CCTV, Singapore 's MediaCorp Studios, Buena Vista and more recently the Shaw Brothers' film library.

Lim joins from InnoForm Media where he was general manager for the past 14 months. Under his helm, the company moved into production and invested in Neo's Just Follow Law and Kelvin Tong's Men In White. He also oversaw theatrical distribution including 200 Pounds Beauty which became Singapore 's top Korean film.
